It took a few years for the Pariah to finally come to fruition, but its arrived for 2018. The 2018 Pariah is a Telemark ski, dreamed up by the Fey Bros at Summit Cone Equipment, designed by Telemark skiers, for Telemark skiers and Made in the USA.
The objective was pretty simple for this model- Design the perfect ski- with the preferred sidecut-the best components- keep it light, but stable - with balanced rocker- and the perfect "everyday ski" dimensions. The Pariah was designed by taking the best qualities of the absolute favorite 4 current Telemark skis (secret recipe).
Design Characteristics: The Pariah was designed with a large shovel that has a soft-flexing tip to keep it up in deeper snow, absorb moguls and initiate a quick turn. To keep the "playful" factor high, the camber is standard under foot with a very slight tail rocker. The center of the ski has a mid-flexing stiffness which keeps the turns round and consistent. This is a shorter radius turning ski on hardpack(17.5) for our East Coast customers who are trying to maximize the slope and get into the trees when and where they can. For our Western customers, the Pariah does the same, but should be a pleasant surprise for long tours and in deeper snow. Unlike many lighter touring skis, the Pariah won't suck on harder snow. When considering the Pariah you need to ask yourself - "do I like shorter radius turns, a ski that's not too stiff, a playful ski that likes to make quick turns in the woods or trail-edge and can smear through moguls and won't beat me up?" Then, here you go.
During testing, it became clear that we had figured out our ski when it became harder and harder to get our testers to give them up. "They do it ALL", is what testers said.
They stay so stable on packed snow and put you at ease in variable conditions while holding a fantastic edge. In bumps, they whistle through as the optimal tip camber makes transitions super easy, and in deeper snow, they float with the fatties and tour very well. This is just a fun-performance ski, and they pump up your ego big-time, with how they make you feel about your Telemark skiing.
NOTE: THIS SKI WAS DEVELOPED FOR TELEMARK SKIERS ONLY AND WON'T BE SOLD WITH ALPINE OR AT BINDINGS....(although they'd be amazing with fixed heels too) IF YOU'D LIKE A PAIR- FREE YOUR HEEL - YOU WONT REGRET IT!
